Lots of Fiber Happenings around Anchorage

There is a lot going on in the next couple of months.
February 5th & 6th: Project Runway for the International Gallery. Look forward to some amazing garments coming out of the Alaskan community for this very exciting of events. Don’t know where yet – but put it on your calendar and watch the papers and this space for details. Mary, Lisa, Jan, Linda and Akiko will all have garments in this show.
February 19th-March 12th : The Alaskan Members of the Surface Design Association present “Match This” – a show of personal ways of working with fibers. This group show features such artists as Mary Hertert, Denise Gallup, Ree Nancarrow, Annie Aubie, Keren Lowell and upwards of 10 others with their own special ways of working with textiles and fibers. Third Friday opening at the MTS Gallery in Mountain View on Mountain View Drive.
March 5th-14th: Alaska Fiber Festival presents the 2010 theme Archi-Texture. Start off the week with a First Friday Downtown Quilt Walk and special work by Roxane Stoner and Nancy Dobson at the Virtu Gallery on 4th & D. Spend the week studying with international artists Rachel Clark, Carol Taylor and Kathyanne White. Make sure you take off time for a dynamite Fashion Show on March 11th orchestrated by Art Services North. Finish the week browsing the challenge displays and vendor hall at the Conoco Philips Atrium March 13th & 14th. The SDA Member show and Studio Art Quilts displays will anchor the finale of the week-long festival.
