I’m back and totally inspired!

I’m back after two weeks on the Kongakut River in Alaska’s ANWR. My mind is full of images flying over spectacular landscapes from the water-pocked tundra to the isolated and stark Brook’s Range. On the north side the pilot pointed out small bands of caribou on their way to the northern birthing grounds. Headwaters of rivers both named and unnamed were beginning to break free of their frozen bondage and flow down towards the coast.
I took nearly 500 photos during the 10 days we were up there and already images are finding their way into some new work.
Color Creek will be joining Virtu Gallery for the G Street Artists’ Fair on July 11th. Come on down for a visit and a browse through the new scarves and fabrics featuring the images of the north. I’ll be in booth #19 on that day – sharing with Sherry Suitor and her encaustic paintings.
Private parties are filling the days at the Creek instead of workshops. It’s summer and what better way to celebrate relatives visiting than by coming by and experiencing the joy of painting on fabric, tie-dyeing those special shirts or exploring batik with friends and family. Remember special deals abound in July since that’s my birthday month. If you schedule your own birthday party during the month of July I’ll treat you to a free day at the Creek.
July 6th-10th is part of the Municipality’s Art in the Park. I’ll be at Jewel Lake with projects for the young folks to explore the wonders of fiber arts in the outdoors. Drop in, spend some time, create. Hope to see all the young people there.
Workshop dates coming for July and August in the next post. Just wanted to let you know that I’m back and I’m hoping to see you soon at the Creek. Hours are generally 10-5 Monday-Friday and all other days by appointment or specially scheduled. Just give a call. 244-7968
Stop in to the Middle Way Cafe in the REI mall on Northern Lights to see the latest work turned out by the Color Creek gals. Show is up at least through the end of June and quite possible through the end of July. Good stuff!
